Cathy O’Dowd Talked Nanga Parbat

Cathy O'Dowd Speaker 2On 7th October Cathy joined us
for an evening’s talk about her recent expedition up Nanga Parbat.  The event, supported by Pitch Climbing, Mountain Equipment & Manchester Climbing Centre, was a tremendous success and we would like to thank everyone who came to the event.  We hope that all of you who joined us enjoyed the company of Cathy and hearing her truly inspiring story – she’s an incredible woman and we are very proud to have hosted the lecture and to have met her.  She gave an eloquent presentation and answered innumerable questions from the floor.

pitch climbing T-shirt imageThe wonderful Pitch climbing contributed two of their lovely items of clothing to our free prize draw- a t-shirt and a vest.  They were so great that the Womenclimb team were very tempted to conveniently ‘lose’ them!  However, we realised that we can buy them from the online shop, so if you see us around, check out our t-shirts.   We like to try and support great UK business and Pitch Climbing is run by climbers and for climbers – we really love their gear.  If you’d like to see it for yourself, here’s their website:  pitchclimbing.com

Mountain Equipment logoOur friends at Mountain Equipment contributed a most splendid array of really nice hats and the star prize – a super warm 3-season sleeping bag, which was won by Rebecca Watkins – Well done Rebecca and thank you to Mountain Equipment for your generous support.  If you’re interested in buying anything Mountain Equipment or any other outdoors gear, you can do so by clicking this link.  Womenclimb gets a small percentage of anything you buy on the website and this helps us to run this website for you.

The event took place at Manchester Climbing Centre.  Womenclimb has an illustrious history with Manchester Climbing Centre and their support in organising the lecture and providing a free coaching session for our prize draw was invaluable.

Thank you.
