Frequently Asked Questions

What format will the training take?

You will get an individual login to access your training programme 24 hrs a day. The training consists of 12 modules, each with a different focus. You will be guided through each module using a variety of methods including video tutorials, discussion tools, online activities and downloads. Most importantly, your training will involve you going climbing, assessing yourself, working with others and setting individual goals. This process is designed to be as easy as possible and to get you from A to B as quickly as you can get there.

How long can I access the resources?

We plan to make these resources available to you for as long as Womenclimb is operating – hopefully forever!

When does the training start?

The training will start at the end of January. Once pre-enrolment is complete, we will send you your starts date. If you’re not around on that day, don’t worry –

How long does the training take?

You can progress through the training at your own pace. We will release modules in a staggered way as follows:

  • Modules 1 & 2 – Week 1
  • Modules 3 & 4 – Week 2
  • Modules 5 & 6 – Week 3
  • Modules 7 & 8 – Week 4
  • Modules 9 & 10 – Week 5
  • Modules 11 & 12 – Week 6

You can expect to do 2-3 hours per module. You’ll need to do some climbing on top of this. Climbing twice per week will help you to engage more in the training, but if you climb less you can still take part. You will get a range of resources with each module, but we advise that you take one thing from each module to really focus your efforts. We will talk more about the science and evidence behind this once you’re signed up.

Is this a women-only course?

We will be running 2 separate courses – one for women and one for men, so you will be participating with people of your gender. If you are trans and you want to discuss this setup, we would love to speak to you if you have questions.

Can I do this course if I’m a man?

Yes, we are running a separate course for men. You’ll get the same content in a male-only user area. The only proviso for this is that the course needs a minimum number of people to run.

Do I need a Facebook profile to do this course?

No, you don’t have to have a Facebook profile to participate in this course, however, we may run some discussion groups on Facebook, so having a profile will help you get the most out of the course by connecting you to other climbers through the Facebook platform.

How do I give this as a gift?

Pay using the ‘Give as a Gift’ option. We will email you a special gift voucher within 72 hours to give to your recipient. They will just need to email us with their voucher details and their one-time code to register on the course. Simple.

Do I need to know how to use email and the internet to take this course?

Yes. The course is an online training, so you need to be able to use a computer for basic functions. You also need an email address to sign up.

Will I get assignments?

On the whole, you won’t get assignments. However, some people enjoy going away and focussing for assignment, so if you’d like some assignments, we can set them for you. In the main, your focus will be on your own goals, which we can help you to work out and develop as the course progresses.

Is there an instructor on the course?

There are humans behind this course, who will be available at set times during the course to guide your learning and offer support, if needed.

Can I get a discount for a group booking?

If you pre-enrol during the qualifying period, you will receive a 20% discount on the full price. After that time, we may offer group discounts for groups of 8 people of more. Please contacts us if you would like to discuss a group discount: hello@womenclimb.co.uk
