Course Requirements
There are often preconceptions about what is needed to attend the Rock Climbing Instructor Assessment. Full details are in the Climbing Instructor handbook, but in summary you should have completed the RCI training and:
Have led 40 trad routes, of which 20 should be graded at least Severe
Have led 30 indoor routes grade f4+
Have led 40 sport climbs graded f4+
Have assisted a minimum of 20 sessions (indoor and outdoor)
Have completed a first aid course
The climbing should be at a range of venues and on a range of rock types. These must be logged and you must be registered on the scheme via the Mountain Training Website. Sometimes this seems like a lot, but when you get out and climb regularly, with the support of a friendly group of people, it’s surprising how quickly that experience builds up. At Womenclimb we are committed to supporting you. If you aspire to be a rock climbing instructor or to do your training and assessment for personal development, get in touch with us: hello@womenclimb.co.uk.
Who are the instructors?
Your instructor for this course is Sam Leary. We choose the very best instructors who we feel will create a meaningful learning experience for all women participating. If you have additional needs and want more information about how we can support you, please get in touch with Emily Pitts: hello@womenclimb.co.uk
Need Accomodation?
This time we can’t offer accommodation, but there are lots of bunkhouses and Airbnb places in and round North Wales for you to choose from.
