On the Day
If you’re new to our meetups we recommend that you arrive early to ensure you join us for our safety briefing and intro. For safety reasons, the organisers rarely use their mobile phones once at the crag, so if you text or call, you are unlikely to get a response. If you have questions, please ask in advance, and if you’re running late, text well before the start time of the meetup.
Tickets for this Meetup are free for Womenclimb members who can tie in and belay. Information about different Meetup Ticket Types can be found here.
For everyone else, join our Introduction to Climbing course which gives you 4 glorious hours of instruction with an understanding instructor, around the safety aspects you will need to know to climb independently in the future. Usually, climbers are able to attend our meet-ups independently after this session (with a ‘Competent’ ticket), but this is not guaranteed, because people learn at different paces and sometimes need an additional session to feel confident in their skills.
Please only order tickets for meetups you 100% intend to attend. If you do need to cancel, please do so at least 7 days in advance, to give others the opportunity to take your place. Thank you for your help in making this a positive experience for everyone – mutual respect and understanding makes Womenclimb work. Tickets are limited, so that the ratio of competent leaders and climbers stays on the right side of safe and happy. Most leaders are happy to help new climbers, but sometimes they just want to smash out routes for a day with a competent friend. To give this flexibility and respect each others’ needs, we have the tickets system. If you order a ticket and don’t turn up for the session, you are taking a ticket from someone else who would love the ticket.
Whichever option you choose you will get:
A personal welcome by Womenclimb at the car park at 10am
A friendly, welcoming environment
A supportive group of people to climb with
If you join the Introduction to Climbing course you will get:
All of the above plus:
4 hours with an instructor
Instruction on how to belay & tie in safely
Safety information to climb independently in the future
Who is the host / instructor?
Emily Pitts, Womenclimb Founder & CEO will be your host. If you’ve chosen the Introduction to Climbing course, then Emily will also be your instructor. She is a qualified, experienced and insured Rock Climbing Instructor. Your needs are at the heart of the instruction. For those who choose to climb independently, Emily will help you to find other people to climb with if this is something that will help you. If you have additional needs and want more information about how we can support you, please get in touch with Emily: email@example.com. Emily is passionate about inclusion and will do her best to adapt her session to meet your needs. Please read our info about dogs at meetups if you are considering bringing a dog to a Womenclimb meetup.
