Indoor Rock Climbing in Sheffield
Sheffield is a mecca for climbers with fantastic crags within easy reach of the city centre. When the sun isn’t shining there are also three really great indoor climbing venues around Sheffield to continue to train. If you’ve visited one of these gyms why not write us a review?
1. Awesome Walls
Awesome Walls is north of Sheffield City Centre and close to the M1 and is an extremely popular venue with climbers. It has a good mix of top rope routes and lead climbing routes on both flat and overhanging climbing walls, with a possible 312 different routes to climb, as well as 2 bouldering areas. It also has a dedicated children’s climbing area. Entry is £8 or £6.50 to boulder only.

2. The Foundry
The Foundry was the UK’s first dedicated indoor climbing centre and continues to be a great venue to climb. Very close to the city centre, The Foundry has over 100 top rope and 200 lead routes on both flat and simulated real rock walls. It also has a fantastic selection of bouldering problems. Registration costs £2 and prices are either £7.50 for peak times and £6.50 for off peak climbing.

3. The Climbing Works
When the Climbing Works opened in 2006 it was the World’s largest bouldering gym and is still a world class facility, and recognised by the BMC as a National Performance Centre. Despite its elite status its also a great place for new climbers and families to climb and they regularly run courses for new and experienced climbers. Registration costs £3 and prices are either £7.50 for peak times or £6.50 for off peak climbing. Students and the over 60’s get a £1 discount.
