1.4 Your Confidence

Have you ever wondered what exactly it is

that makes you feel confident when you climb?

Time Required: 30 minutes

The instructions for this task are on the download. You will need at least 30 minutes to complete the assessment in a quiet environment where you can think and reflect.  You’ll need a pen and a printout of the download.

This questionnaire was developed by professor Robin Vealey and colleagues.  The research that created it was incredibly rigorous, spanning a number of years, resulting in a questionnaire that is an internationally recognised self-assessment tool, used by athletes at all levels.  It focuses on the sources of sports confidence – helping us to work out where our confidence comes from in the physical activities we undertake.  Once we start to work this out, we can work on those different areas, being more self-aware of what influences us.  This questionnaire will form the basis of modules 3-11 of this programme.

Robin Vealey has been incredibly generous in allowing us to use this tool, and we are extremely grateful.  With this in mind, please don’t share this tool with others, without Robin’s permission.  It is her and her co-creators’ intellectual property and it’s not legal to share without permission. If you would like to find out more about her credentials, they can be found here: Robin Vealey’s CV.  If you’d like to find out more about Vealey’s ideas, cut and paste the following into your web browser: http://www.naspspa.org/AcuCustom/Sitename/Documents/DocumentItem/1179.pdf
