This exercise is designed to help you consider how the two factors Demonstration of Ability and Physical Self-Presentation impact your climbing confidence. Once you start to understand your current position, you can decide if you would like to do anything differently in the future.
Review your SSCQ responses from the sections: Demonstration of Ability and Physical Self-Presentation. What are your scores? How much do you use these two factors as sources of confidence in climbing?
For the next part of the exercise, you have two options:
Go and do a climbing session at your local wall or crag.
Consider the following questions while you’re in and around the climbing environment, as well as when you are climbing:
Think back to a time recently when you’ve been out climbing and reflect on the two questions:
Action: Write your ideas and thoughts in your journal or a notepad to help you clarify your thoughts. You can come back to them in a day or tow to see if there is anything that you missed, or would like to add.
