Volunteers Needed: Film Specialism
Womenclimb is offering an opportunity for students/ volunteers to get involved in an exciting 8-week project to create high quality and engaging film content. We already have lots of ideas, but you will become part of the film production team joining us to help make the ideas and content into a reality. You can apply as an individual, or as a team.
You’ll be someone with experience of one or all of the following areas:
- Editing & Post-production
This project is really exciting and we want motivated and enthusiastic people who are 100% reliable. The schedule for this project is tight. It will be necessary for you to work independently to produce the work agreed within the timescales set. The experience you will get will be invaluable and you’ll have something very special to put on your CV. We’re hoping that this will lead to further films, which will involve paid work for the right talent. The ethos of Womenclimb focuses on valuing individual strengths and supporting people to develop. The same applies to this project – we want to help you to develop your skills and experience, so that it’s worthwhile for you. You will be joining a team with some experience of filming and post-production techniques, so you won’t be alone, but you will probably be the experts.
- Ideas Development
This is your chance to get creative and to contribute your ideas to the big idea. As a team we have a short time to create something with big impact. You’ll be at the heart of ideas development, working out how to make the film elements of our ideas run smoothly.
- Planning & Preparation for filming
You and the team will be expected to prepare everything that is needed for the film elements of our plan. Planning is crucial and you will have a high level of responsibility. What this means is that you’ll be able to take the credit for the work you put in. We’re hoping that you’ll help us create something we’re all proud of.
Working to schedule you and the team will need get everything filmed on time, ready for editing and post-production work to take place.
- Editing & Post Production
As a team you will be responsible for taking the ideas, the film, the sound and put it together into the films required to bring together this project.
What we’re looking for – Essential
- Is organised and methodical
- Can work independently on tasks
- Able to work as part of the team
- Able to follow instructions & communicate well
- Ability to think on her/his feet and use initiative
- Technical skills in film, sound and/or post-production
What we’re looking for – Desirable
- Able to use Excel on a basic level or ability to learn quickly
- Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn how to use Trello
Womenclimb is the UK platform created to give women the connections, the confidence and the skills they need to achieve their rock climbing goals, whether that is to climb socially once per week or train to compete.
We were founded in 2013 from the experience of the founder, who realised when she started rock climbing that many of the resources didn’t work for her as a small female. Since the 2013 website launch, Womenclimb has grown from a blog being run by one person to a website nearly 50,000 page views per year, with over 5000 highly engaged social media followers and with 5 volunteers.
Location of opportunity: Manchester, UK. You must be able to get to the locations in central Manchester and an M34 location for the filming dates.

This timeline is fairly rigid, but we may be able to be flexible on film dates and times to fit in with your schedule.
